NEWS: News Release ~ March 2011 Andrew Heim, 9 years old, not only represented Cape May, NJ, but also represented the Welsh Pony and Cob Sociey of America (WPCSA) by attending the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) Horse of the Year (HOTY) Celebration in Lexington, KY on January 21, 2011. He and his welsh pony Glencoe Rock & Roll, aka Rocker, were awarded the USEF National HOTY Champion for the Welsh Pleasure 12.2 hands and Under division. By far Andrew was the youngest in attendance to receive a Champion in any USEF division. This was a formal affair and equestrians from all aspects of riding throughout the United States were in attendance. Dr. Ruth Wilburn, the president of the WPCSA, told Andrew she was very proud of Andrew and Rocker and she felt he represented the Welsh Breed very well. Mr. David O’Conner, the president of the USEF, told Andrew, “we need more boys here, so I hope you keep it up” (riding). Though Andrew is only 9 years old, he will never forget this amazing experience. Accompanying Andrew to Lexington to witness this truly awesome event were his parents Al and Ginny Heim.
